Picking the right pair of shoes for Olympic Weightlifting is crucial for repetitive training and increases in strength over time. Having the right pair of shoes takes out a lot of unnecessary hassle and for those of us who spend 3 hours of training multiple days per week this is part of our goal - to simplify.
Do not get caught up in the hype and aesthetics of shoes and do not make the mistake of overpaying or paying more than you have to. They are just shoes, and in my opinion they are over-priced but that's for another post.
Buying a pair of Olympic weightlifting shoes as it stands is a difficult process because there is no store you can go to and try them on, let alone try them on, then do a few split jerks at 80% to really get a feel for them.
I have tried and trained in every single pair of weightlifting shoes on the market to date (November 2013) and I can tell you from personal experience that it is 'night and day' with just about every brand/pair. In the blog posts to follow, I will outline a quick method for choosing the right shoe in terms of size and benefits so that you can be well on your way to finding the right shoe for you.
